typographic book covers

Recreate book covers using text, organic shapes and a limited colour selection.

OBJECTIVE
OUTCOME

The cover for Paper Towns depicts a piece of paper with the letters cut out, thus the geometric nature of the letters. The red circle representing the O was a tribute to the second book cover for Paper Towns and was meant to represent a location mark on a map. The shape of the A is a north arrow on compass rose, as the story involves the characters going on a road trip in search for a classmate.
Looking for Alaska also involves a search, but for a motive instead of a person. As it takes place in a school setting, I used a ripped paper texture, to show that an answer is being sought for. The name “Alaska” is in a different typeface and colour to indicate that she is the subject of the story.
